Goes Together Like … Yum And Yum

When your thought train goes something like, “Wow! OH Yes! Um mm, Wow!”,        and you’re not talking about sex,  you “might be a foodie” and you might have        just tasted “Delicious Perfection!”

While tastes and definitions of “Perfectly Delicious” run a wide range of descriptions from person to person, when those flavors fit “Your Description” exactly, it’s a special moment in life’s travels and experiences to make special note of and to savor and to immediately repeat the experience, if possible! AKA, take another bite of that incredible food you just ate!

If you have been so blessed as to be able to have the holiday favorite, “Roasted Turkey”, on your family’s table at least twice each year, for a few decades, then not only have you been richly blessed, but, you’ve probably, by this point “on the road of life”, eaten this “bird of wonderful feasts” many, many, many times, with many, many, many flavors and tastes. And for some of us, try as you may, you really can’t remember ever taking a bite and saying, “oh my … this tastes terrible!” Most of us probably remember first, “the one MOM Made” and How Good It Was! This writer’s MOM, was “So Good At Doing The Bird”, that she was elected by the family of more than 20 some, to Roast The Turkey, for 50 years in a row. You just know that bird had some yummy flavor and that MOM is a great cook, just like she is great at so many other things.

After our first thoughts of MOM’s Roasted Turkey, we then probably remember other delicious “holiday bird’s” we’ve enjoyed through the decades. Some, with our own family’s after we married and left home, some with other family’s, some in restaurants of various quality’s and even some in different countries. If you’ve been here a while, then you’ve probably done “a lot of Turkey”, in your time.

And then it happens! That “Golden Bird For The Holiday”, is piled high on a big platter and as you place your serving on your plate, you get a whiff of that wonderful aroma! It’s different than before, you can tell … by the smell! It’s a rich and buttery smell and it’s encouraging you to do a direct bee line to the bird, after The Blessing! So, as the first bite touches your tong and taste buds start sending signals to the brain, you know right then, yep! This is it! “Golden Holiday Bird Of Perfection”, has landed on your family’s table and is standing ready for serving after serving if so desired! What A Feast! What Wonderful Flavor!

While many of your favorite casseroles and dishes are sitting on the table in front of you, just calling out to you, “enjoy some of me, too, please”, you just couldn’t get past the “Turkey!” Bite after bite and the “Flavor Definition” keeps come back … Wow! This Is Delicious!” “Yum! Yum!” “The Mrs. Has Topped Her Best Again!” She has always been a wonderful cook, who always says, “she’s not that good of a cook”, ha- ha, I know better, but this time, she has created one of those recipes, “that there is No Reason On Earth To Change!” “Delicious Perfection” are the words I chose to file in my brain for “This Golden Holiday Bird!”

All of the ingredients she placed in the birds cavity, combined with her careful injection of the meat, without holes in the skin, and also the deep depth of her old fashion roasting pan had produced a dish to remember for life. And, to repeat again in a few weeks for our family’s most special holiday of the year. Great! Even more to look forward to on “the road of life!”  Enjoy!
